Pahalgam

Pahalgam is situated in the charming Lidder Valley, which is about 97 k ms form Srinagar. The exotic hill station is known for its exquisite scenery, milky waterfalls and lush green landscapes. Pahalgam remains a perfect spot for adventure freaks. Pahalgam boasts of some very beautiful treks and remains the base for the holy Amarnath Yatra.

Pahalgam, the shepherd’s village is famous for its fine woolen products such as Gabbas and Namdas, which are available in all the local shops. The roadside are lined with small stalls and shop selling authentic Kashmir handicrafts, exquisite jewelry and beautiful wooden souvenirs.

Places of Interest

Tulian Lake
Enclosed by snow-clad mountains, Tulian Lake offers picturesque sights of the verdant meadows. The lake is about 11 k ms from Pahalgam.

Mamaleshwara
Mamaleshwara lies on the banks of river Lidder. The place is famous for its Shiva temple that dates back to the 12th century.

Mattan
Mattan is an important pilgrimage cent re for Hindus. The place attracts hordes of devotees through out the year.

Best Time to Visit
The ideal time to visit Pahalgam is during summers, between mid April to mid November. Pahalgam can also be visited in the month of July and August during the annual pilgrimage to the holy cave of Amarnath.

How to Reach Pahalgam
By Air
Srinagar is the closest airport, which is about 95 kms from Pahalgam. Go Air, King fisher Airlines, Jet Airways, Indian Airlines, Spice Jet and Jetlite operate regular flights to Srinagar from Delhi.

By Rail
The nearest railhead is at Jammu, which is 300 kms away from Pahalgam. Jammu station is very well linked with the all the major cities with the railway system.

By Road
The national highway NH1 connects the Kashmir valley with the rest of the India. JKTDC and many transport agencies operate regular luxury and deluxe buses to Srinagar and Jammu from where you can easily find buses and taxis to Pahalgam.
